Shop Smarter Online with PriceBlink

I love shopping online.

Even when it’s not in the budget to buy something, I online “window shop.” I like to fill my cart with lots of things I want but can’t afford.

Most of the time, however, when I am actually shopping shopping online, I am on the lookout for a deal. I always, always, always google coupon codes before I buy anything. It’s amazing how many times I’ve found a free shipping coupon code or some percentage off. I love that feeling…but it does take extra time.

This week I tried out a tool called PriceBlink that claims to help you automatically find lower prices online – sounds too good to be true, right?

PriceBlink.com is a website where you can search for coupon codes and online deals – it’s nifty, but you still have to go to the website to find the deals.

The best part of PriceBlink is the browser add-on. You install an extension to your browser and then anytime you are shopping online, a little bar shows up at the top of your browser that looks like this:

The PriceBlink add-on has 3 specific parts:

  1. Are you looking at the cheapest place to buy the item?
  2. Where else you can buy it and for how much (includes shipping costs)
  3. Add to a wish list button (using your PriceBlink account)

I’ll give you a real-life example of some shopping I was doing for my hubby for Father’s Day (I gave him specific instructions NOT to read this blog…)

I was shopping for a new iPhone case because his broke.

The PriceBlink bar drops down and tells me that the case I’m looking at is substantially cheaper at newegg.com. So, of course I jump over there and order it for cheaper.

PriceBlink also alerts you when there are coupons available for the site you are shopping on:

While I was on Target.com there were 10 coupon codes available – pretty cool, right?

And the best thing is that the bar stays hidden while you browse the web and only drops down when it has important information to share with you – that way it isn’t annoying.

For a video demo click here or to read more or download the add-on click here.

I’m a big fan and will definitely always have it installed on my browser – it’s free, helpful and saves me money. That’s my kind of tool!

Let me know if you try it out – I’d also love to know if it saves you some money the next time you are shopping online!

50% off Personalized Children’s Books

I found this deal on Mamasource and snatched it up for Christmas presents for my boys:

$15 for $30 worth of books from Little Heroes.

(That means you can get almost 2 soft cover books for your $15.)

Besides adding your child’s name to the book, you can customize the look of the kid to look like yours! I checked out the books and I think “The Obnoxious Dragon” is definitely going to be one I buy…it is cute and has a good moral – always a bonus.

Free Large Photo Book – update

So, I was up last night with strep throat…bad news. Good news is, it gave me some time to get my free Picaboo photo book designed! It’s actually a pretty pleasant process. You have to download the Picaboo software (which they do have for Mac), then you select your photos and background images. It was relatively simple. Now, I was not the biggest fan of the default backgrounds they had to offer, but I discovered that they have tons more free (and much cuter) backgrounds here on their website. All you have to do is download the image and set it as the background. I used the Aidan Collection for all of my pages and I think it turned out great. I would definitely consider using them again. The shipping total came out to $8.99. I think that’s a great deal for a 20 page 8.5 x 11 photo book. I’ll let you know how it looks when it gets here in a week. Don’t forget to order yours during the month of March!

Thrifty Thursday – Kids Resale Stores

I am definitely a thrift store lover. I think I got it from my mother as she does most of her shopping there. She definitely kept me from developing that “ew, it’s used” stigma. I love a good thrift store, but I really love a great Kids’ Resale Store. I have saved so much money buying Zander’s furniture, toys & clothes second hand, especially since he outgrows clothes so quickly. And you can sell your old stuff back to them and use the credit/money to buy new stuff!

I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite resale stores. Most of these places are also privately/locally owned, so I love to support fellow small business owners. Of course, my knowledge is limited to where I live (the Mesa/Phoenix area).

If you know of a great store I missed, include it in the comments, I’d love to check it out.

3425 East Baseline Road Suite 105
Gilbert, AZ 85234

1994 N Alma School Road
Chandler, AZ 85224

I got my nursery furniture here for amazing prices and just cleaned them up with a coat of paint. The one in Chandler also has a great selection of maternity clothes for great prices. They have these all over the country, so head to their website and see if they have one in your area!

1720 E. Warner Rd. Suite C-8
N/W Corner Mc Clintock & Warner Rd.
Tempe, AZ 85284

This place is a little smaller, but has amazing clothes. Everything is high quality and name brand, which means prices are not as low as Savers or Goodwill, but you don’t have to dig for great stuff – it’s all great.

10720 E. Southern Ave
Mesa, Arizona 85209

480-380-7452

This is a relatively new place and is pretty small, but they have a good selection of toys, clothes and even maternity clothing. One great thing is that they buy your used items and they buy them for fair prices. I went in with a few things and ended up with $80 credit. Oh, and it’s next to Hobby Lobby, which means you can stop in both places on one trip!

Hope you enjoy! I’d love to hear how your shopping goes!
